1. Go to https://www.twitter.com and log in.
2. Click your profile image.
3. Click Settings and privacy
4. Scroll down and click Deactivate my account
5. Click Deactivate @username
6. Enter your Twitter password.
7. Click Deactivate account

Step 1: Open Twitter. Go to https://www.twitter.com/ in your browser. This will open your Twitter home page if you're logged into your Twitter account.  

Step 2: Click your profile image. This option is in the upper-right corner of the page. A drop-down menu will appear


Step 3: Click Settings and privacy. It's near the middle of the drop-down menu. 


Step 4: Scroll all the way down and click Deactivate my account. It's at the very bottom of the page. If you don't see this link at the bottom of the page, you haven't scrolled far enough down.  
Step 5: Click Deactivate @username. This blue button will appear in the middle of the page after a few seconds. "Username" will be replaced by your account's handle.

Step 6: Enter your Twitter password. When prompted, type the password that you use to log into Twitter into the "Password" text field. 


Step 7: Click Deactivate account. It's a blue button in the bottom-right corner of the window. Clicking this deactivates your account, though you can log back into your account any time in the next 30 days to restore it.

To block from a Tweet

To block from a profile
  1. Go to the profile page of the account you wish to block.
  2. Click the more  icon on their profile page.
  3. Select Block from the menu.
  4. Click Block to confirm.

Some important things to know about block:
  • Accounts you have blocked cannot follow you, and you cannot follow an account you have blocked.
  • Blocking an account you are currently following will cause you to unfollow that account (and them to unfollow you). If you decide to unblock that account, you will have to follow that account again.
  • Blocked accounts do not receive a notification alerting them that their account has been blocked. However, if a blocked account visits the profile of an account that has blocked them, they will see they have been blocked (unlike mute, which is invisible to muted accounts).
  • If you block an account and they choose to report your account, any of your Tweets that directly mention them will be available for them to view and attach during the reporting process.
  • You will not receive notifications from accounts you block, or accounts that you do not follow who mention you in conversations started by accounts that you block.

  1. Click on Settings and privacy from the drop-down menu under your profile icon.
  2. From the Account tab, click on Deactivate your account at the bottom of the page.
  3. Read the account deactivation information, then click Deactivate @username.  
  4. Enter your password when prompted and confirm that you want to proceed by clicking the Deactivate account button.
